The challenge

The client's e-commerce platform was running on on-premise infrastructure that couldn't keep pace with the business. As traffic grew and became less predictable, the gaps in the existing setup started showing in four ways:

⚠️ Unpredictable traffic, fixed capacity. The platform had no way to anticipate traffic fluctuations, so infrastructure couldn't scale ahead of demand - leaving the business exposed every time traffic spiked.
⚠️ Service interruptions during peak periods. Scalability constraints in the existing architecture caused service interruptions and degraded performance precisely when traffic - and customer expectations - were highest.
⚠️ High cost of running on-premise. Managing on-premise systems carried excessive operational overhead - hardware, capacity planning, and maintenance costs that scaled poorly against actual usage.
⚠️ No secure, cost-effective path to scale. The business needed infrastructure that was secure and scalable by design, and cost-effective enough to support growth without a proportional rise in operating expense.

Microservices Architecture: Restructured the platform into a modular, scalable design so resources are distributed efficiently instead of contending for a single monolithic footprint.
